How to Transfer Data from Android to Android

When you buy a new phone, the question of how to quickly transfer data from one gadget to another becomes acute. In this article, we will tell you how to transfer data from an Android smartphone to another device with the same operating system.

The days of having to transfer all files manually using a computer and reinstall and reconfigure applications are long gone. Now it is much easier to transfer data from Android to a new phone.

Many smartphone manufacturers embed the necessary tools into their own shell, which is usually installed on top of the Android OS. It is also possible to use a Google account, cloud storage, third-party applications, and so on. We will describe each method in detail and provide clear instructions.

Method 1: Using backup

The easiest way is to use the backup feature that is available on any modern smartphone. The essence of this feature is as follows: the system creates a backup of the device and saves it to the cloud or a memory card. On your new phone, you simply restore the backup by selecting the desired file. This way, all your data, applications, and even settings will be transferred to your new smartphone.

After that, the system will guide you through the entire backup process. To transfer data to a new smartphone, simply insert the memory card with the backup into it and, in the same section where the backup tools are located, start restoring from the backup by specifying the path to the file.

Method 2: using Google account synchronization

This option is suitable if you have enough free space in Google cloud storage to save your user data. By default, backup to your Google account is disabled, so you need to enable it. Please note that some data will not be transferred (e.g., music), and photos and videos will be uploaded to Google Photos.

The process will start immediately. Its duration depends on the number of files on your phone and the speed of your internet connection. Once the backup is complete, you need to log into your Google account on your new phone and start syncing. Usually, the system will offer to copy data from your account.

Method 3: Using the Nearby Share feature

The Nearby Share feature uses wireless communication to instantly transfer files from one phone to another. It has a number of drawbacks: first, it will not be possible to transfer settings and applications, and second, all files will have to be marked for transfer manually, which takes a long time. Nevertheless, this is one of the most popular ways to transfer data from one smartphone to another.

The transfer will start immediately—no confirmation from the receiving device is required. It is worth noting that the data transfer speed when using Nearby Share is much higher than when using a regular Bluetooth transmitter. However, this method is not suitable for everyone.
